Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is best to experience with a friend in Koop multiplayer mode, but the game has no official online support. It is 2022, so that’s a huge shame. However, it is 2022, which means that there is absolutely a way to bypass this arbitrary limit. If you play the game on PS4, PS5 or PC, there is a way to unofficially play with someone else online. It is not ideal, but it works. However, XBox and Switch players are unfortunately excluded. To get the online multiplayer mode in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to run.
How to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga plays online
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga only supports the local multiplayer mode with shared screen, but you can use Steam Remote Play Together or PlayStation Share Play to pass a virtual controller to an online friend. You need a decent internet connection, but only one person must own the game so that works.
PC method
When you play on Steam, start Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and then open the Steam Overlay. Looking for the friend you want to play, and then right-click on his name. Then select the option to invite this person to a remote play session. You can then assign you to control a controller, keyboard or your mouse. You can then participate in the game as if you were sitting next to you for the shared screen.
PlayStation method
This method also works on PS4 and PS5 thanks to the SHARE PLAY function from PlayStation. You must be a PlayStation Plus member for this to work. Choose your friend to a PlayStation Party and then choose Share Play from the Party menu. Then choose “Play with the visitor” to assign your friend to the second controller. You can then join your game very normal as if you were right next to you for local co-op.
Unfortunately, these methods are not ideal, but they are the only functioning method to play Lego Star Wars online. Luckily, the game does not require a twitch or fast reactions, so it should be fine if there is a small input delay. It’s better than nothing.
