Ncuti Gatwa will be the new protagonist of Doctor Who
Since 2017, actress Jodie Whittaker has taken care of the leading role in _ Doctor Who _, one of the most iconic series in England. During this period, the property suffered from a series of controversies related to people behind the camera. While everything seems to return to calm, fans of this saga received great news in the last hours, and that is that a new actor for the role of Doctor Who has been selected.
Through its social networks, it has been revealed that Ncuti Gatwa, famous for his participation in sex education, will be the new protagonist of _Doctor Who _ . Gatwar will take this role during the season that will be in charge of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the series. During his recent presentation at the BAFTA, the actor commented that his selection for the role had been official since February of this year, but it was not until a few hours ago that this information became known.
This was what he mentioned about it:
“There are no words to describe how I feel. A mixture of deeply honest, more than excited and, of course, a little scared. This role and spectacle mean a lot for many people around the world, including me, and each of my incredibly talented predecessors has managed that unique responsibility and privilege with the greatest care. I will do everything possible to do the same. Russell T Davies is almost as iconic as the doctor himself and being able to work with him is a dream come true. His writing is dynamic, exciting, incredibly intelligent and full of danger. The metaphorical recess of an actor. The whole team has been very cozy and has really given its heart to the show. And however much discouraging, I am aware that I am joining a family that really supports me. Unlike the doctor, he may only have a heart, but I am giving everything to this program. ”
It is clear that Doctor Who’s fans are facing a new era . Although this will be the first time that this role is in charge of a person of color in a main way, we must not forget that Jo Martin, a black actress, gave life to The Fugitive Doctor for three episodes in 2020.
Speaking of series, here you can see the new trailer of ms. Marvel. Similarly, the ahsoka series is already in production.
